Material
Circccles jewelry is made predominantly from 304 stainless steel, a very durable, affordable, corrosion-resistant, easy-to-care-for and made-to-last material. It will not tarnish and can easily be cleaned with soap and water.
// Exceptions: Ear hooks are made of 316L surgical steel.
The Mina collection includes alloy spikes that are free from lead, cadmium and nickel. //
Gold colored pieces are 304 steel with an ion vacuum plating (a.k.a. PVD coating) that is also very durable, waterproof and won’t change color. It is extremely enduring, long-lasting and – due to its greater molecular bond – more resistant to corrosion from sweat and regular wear in comparison to gold plating.
Stainless steel is 100% recyclable and may be reused without loss of quality, making it a lasting and sustainable material despite the high energy expenditure in its manufacturing and processing. It does not release any particles or reacts with detergents.
Is stainless steel hypoallergenic?
Stainless steel generally contains nickel (304 grade steel: 8% nickel, 316l grade steel: 10% nickel), which can be a trigger for metal allergies.
However, stainless steel jewellery is known to be well-tolerated by people with nickel allergies, since the nickel is bound tightly within the structure of the steel, making it generally non-reactive with skin. If you are a person with a high sensitivity to nickel, the risk of an allergic reaction exists, but is extremely low.
Wear & Care
Products made of stainless steel are extremely durable and can last for decades.
Containing chromium, stainless steel has a protective barrier against corrosion and oxidation. It usually doesn't rust or tarnish, unless it is exposed to a harsh environment or humidity for prolonged periods of time. It may appear to get dull over time simply by collecting surface residue (substances from the environment and your skin’s natural oils).
To clean your jewelry and to regain any lost shine, simply use any dish or hand soap and water. Gently wipe the stainless steel jewelry with a damp cloth until the piece is clean and then dry with a towel.
For polishing, please use a soft jewelry polishing cloth for smooth surfaces. Do not use tissue or paper towels – their fibers may cause scratches.
Store in a clean and dry space. Handling your jewelry with care will help it last for a lifetime.
